The Seneca School held its Eighth Grade Graduation on Tuesday, June 8, 2004. The twelve students receiving diplomas during the ceremony made up one of the largest graduating classes the school has seen in awhile. The guest speaker for the evening event was Jack Southworth. In his always-eloquent manner, Mr. Southworth wove the stories of the grandparents of each of the graduates into a vivid illustration of the importance of their roles as pioneers in the early development of Bear Valley and Grant County.

He concluded his talk by giving the students sound advice regarding the challenges they will face in the future, the decisions they will have to make and the significance of the roles they can and will play as they continue the legacy of their respective families.

Families and guests were then treated to a slide show of photographs depicting each of the graduates throughout their lives up to the present time. Each series of slides were accompanied by music that had been personally selected by each student.

Seven members of this year’s graduating class received the President’s Education Award. They were Niles Branstetter, Justin Combs, Rhett Elliott, Brady Long, Sam Rawlins, Ryne Smith, and Wendy Whelan.

The Seneca School Staff congratulates these fine young Americans of the Class of 2004 on a job well done and wishes them all the best as they prepare themselves to begin the rigors of high school.
