During the Seneca School graduation ceremony held June 5, the Seneca School Foundation awarded its fifth annual Seneca Logger Memorial Scholarship to Reed Rawlins, an outstanding member of this year’s graduating Eighth Grade Class. Reed is the son of Pete and Wendi Rawlins of Canyon Creek.
In order to even apply for this scholarship, candidates must meet certain minimum requirements. They must then submit a standard application form and a 500-word essay written by them on a topic established each year by the selection committee. The conclusion of the process requires each candidate to undergo an interview before the entire selection committee.
Mr. Sam Seebart, a 1959 graduate of the Seneca School and President of the Seneca School Foundation, had the privilege of presenting Reed with the certificate, representing a $500-scholarship. The actual funds will be deposited in a savings account for use once Reed has successfully completed the first semester in the college of his choice. The Seneca School Foundation congratulates Reed for his outstanding achievements at the Seneca School and his performance during the scholarship competition. It also wishes him all the best during the next four years at Grant Union High School and his college endeavors thereafter.
