In December 2009, after six years of planning and saving, there were sufficient funds to follow through with our window replacement project. At a cost of over $45,500 of private donations, all the windows on the west side of the K - 4 wing of the building were replaced with double pane, energy-efficient windows. Not only has this greatly enhanced the learning environment in the affected classrooms, but the consumption of heating fuel has been dramatically reduced. At the 2011 8th Grade graduation, the foundation awarded its twelfth Seneca Logger Memorial Scholarship. This brings the total to $6000 awarded to students of Seneca School since 2003.

We not only continue to fund the school’s music program, which due to reduced budgets is no longer funded, but also continue to assist in supporting the Seneca Youth Sports Organization to allow students to continue to participate in sports after the program was also cut from the budget in 2007.

The next major project is to continue replacing the older windows in the building with new, energy-efficient windows. A longer-term project is to replace older portions of the building’s roof, which are in serious need of repair. Currently, the battle with leaks is being won each year, but a great deal of time and energy doing this could be better utilized in other areas of the school.
